Here at Corn Wagon Quilt Store we just celebrated our 11th year in business. For our 11th birthday celebration, we had lots of fabric on sale for $1.99 and we also had our annual fat quarter sale. We opened the doors at 8 am and by 8:05 fat quarters were getting pretty scarce. It always amazes us how a group of die-hard quilters can clear a a shelf of fat quarters in less than 10 seconds. We have been busy the past couple of weeks cutting more fat quarters to replace them.
It looks offical that autumn has said goodby and winter is quietly saying hello. Joe Bastardi, a long-range weather forecaster, published his official winter weather forecast. Our area is suppose to have a snowier and colder than normal winter. He actually mentioned our area by name when he said, "Salt Lake City could be as much as 1-3 degrees colder." Some people may be saying, "Oh, NO!" We quilters need to think on the positive side by saying, "Oh, Yes I can stay home and quilt and get a few projects finished."
Here at Corn Wagon we notice that during the "nice" days between snow storms we get an increased number of customers who are venturing out to get the fabric and supplies they need before the next snow storm hits. Based on this long range winter forecast, we have been gearing up to meet your quilting needs. We want to make sure your "resource centers" (aka stashes) are well stocked for winter. We are regularly getting in bright cheery fabrics to help chase away the winter blues. We also have a great selection of reproduction fabrics for those who are in a more nostalgic mood. We have a great selection of fabrics for those baby quilts you want to get done this winter. We also have a large selection of gorgeous custom hand dyed wools. Our own Marianne Michaels is the magic behind these dyed wools and she is always amazing us with a new wool kit. If you have not been in the shop to see her samples, it is worth the time and drive.
We are in the process of getting our winter class schedule finalized. We love to have great classes available for you. Winter is a great time to get together with your quilting friends and learn something new. The best part of classes is meeting new people and making new friends. Be sure and check our website (http://www.cornwagonquilts.com/) to view the Winter Class Schedule. It should be up on the website by the first of January.
We want to thank all of our customers who has made eleven years in business a pure pleasure. We are looking forward to year number twelve. We have lots of fun things planned for 2011.
